So... I opened my Photoshop CS3 to start making some icons... but for some reason no matter what tool I choose (text tool, cropping tool) my cursor stays a hand (like the hand tool) and I can't make anything. I haven't had this problem before and I don't know if I managed to push something last time I used photoshop or if something else has happened. I did make a screen shot of my working area if you can spot something I done. Thank you for any help you can give me! ( Read more... )

The opening scene for The West Wing's episode "The Cold" one of my favourite opening scenes ever. Not only because of the obvious fact that Josh and Donna finally kiss (I'm a shipper, what's new?) but because it's happy! It's one of those scenes that I have watched over and over again and it never fails to put a smile on my face. :D

I was thinking on my fictional crushes and what this could possibly say about me and how utterly cliche (And all over the place) I am in the end. Does it exists attraction that's free from cliches? From the stigma of being a mere manifestation of internal issues? I feel like fictional characters AND the guys I actually liked are manifestation of both cases. Ugh.
And I have a weird confession to make... I'm a weirdo. When I ship, I usually start with the whole lusting after the guy (Without the self insert) and shipping due chemistry. The more invested I get on the ship though, the less attractive the guys become to me (I recognize they're handsome, but it lacks the lust factor) and I start to like the girls, not on a sexual way... although I can find them pretty as hell (Hello, Lexie... You're so beautiful *gushing*) on a girly way. I tend to like them even more if they're the fandom's punch bag (aka Kate). And for some very fucked up reason I start to feel some kind of respect for what the characters have so... The attraction for the guy fade away.
That happens every time I feel really invested, so it's the same case with Sawyer, Mark Sloan and even Fox Mulder (My first crush ever, I think). I will not talk about them, although I would love to, on the comments section. Just because even though for a weird reason I don't feel some crazy attraction to them, I do love my guys. In fact, my flist can make a list of fandom crushes on the comments section. I am sure I missed some swoon worthy guys. This may be the first of many entries and I do like to know the fictional characters that makes your heart melt a little.
I'm a weird person. I get that.
But I indulge myself of 'loving' some fictional characters in spite I ship them with other people. I can't help myself.
Spock, Star Trek XI: First of all, his analytical mind is... fuck, everything about his line of thought is incredible sexy. And when it's just the epitome of adorable, in a weird Spock-ish way, my heart fills with utter glee and love. I think Spock may be one of my favorite characters ever when it comes down to fanfiction. It's just delicious to read Star Trek fanfictions. Funny enough, I tend not to love the fanfictions that much when it's in the context of the movie, the grief and conflicting feelings being the spotlight of the story, in spite inside the movie it's what draws me to him. It's just... that somehow it's incredible amusing, heartwarming and sometimes angsty and complex and fucking awesome to see him either dwelling with the idea of love (Born out of some development, when it's already an obvious fact it's not as great) or when he is already inside the relationship, dealing with the human behavior (Such as the questioning of a need for women to use bra). And let's not talk about his idea of flirting. There is something magical, giggling worthy, swoon worthy and so intellectual on his approach of courtship. First, his politeness and well manners and vocabulary is incredible sensual. Fuck, even his body language (Stiff, imposing respect) and voice intonation (Inside and outside the movie) makes me have a MAD LOVE for him. The fact he meditates to control his feelings is ONE OF THE MOST SEXY THINGS EVER. Sigh.
Melchior, Spring Awakening: He is rebellious, incredible smart (Without trying) and as the girls quoted in the play he doesn't believe in anything. Gosh, this is perfection. Who never fell for a "rebel"? Guys like him don't exist IRL without being foolish and assholes. Plus, although I do recognize the world is a messy place, the rebellion thing doesn't have as much impact as it once had. I blame the technology. Or the fact, rebels probably were never cool... but writers makes them 'Oh so dreamy'. Never mind Melchior has the teen energy and although I mostly don't like teenagers I kinda love the confusion and sexual drive. If he grown up to be like that, he would be my dream guy (As well). I don't want to sound a perv because in theory the character is a teen. So I am taking the essence to explain the love. But I feel the many bad boys I manage to love fill this place as well.
Leonard McCoy, Star Trek XI and Wyatt, Private Practice: They fall into the same category... the bitter, sarcastic, cynic and divorced guy. With probably 500 layers we have to peal (Wyatt IMO was the perfect man for Addison. I cannot get over the fact he will never come back to PrP) and some complexity I love. Often labeled as jerks, we just know there is something more. I think McCoy was a bit less accessible and more rough in the edges compared with Wyatt. Who has a hint of sophistication and cockiness that McCoy quite doesn't have it. But oh boy... somehow I love those bastards. IRL they probably would infuriate me, but at the same time this sense of confidence (What I lack) is just incredible sexy.
Michael Vaughn, Alias and Martin Fitzgerald, Without a Trace: The good guys with some daddy issues (Without go Jack Sheppard on us). But oh so comfortable on their own skin. It's the kind of guy who just go grab some drink on your kitchen completely naked because they just know they're THAT GOOD LOOKING or they just don't care because there is some confidence and easiness without the cockiness that comes from it. No matter what Alias and WAT did to them... at first they're a girl's dream (I dropped both shows). Easy... even funny guys.
So yeah... more? Hit me with suggestions.
Yes, I am cliche. | | |

I will answer the replies from my previous posts. It may take a while. Too many replies.
The Glee 'Imagine' scene it was just one of the prettiest scenes I've seen this year. Glee, you're awesome and warm and crazy and outrageous and funny and I am thankful for it.
BTW, Happy Thanksgiving to my f-list. My country don't celebrate it... But for those who does. I hope it's a good day.
One question: Changing POVs inside a story it's a sign of poor writing? I read some mentions, but I'm not sure.

program: adobe photoshop CS2
translatable: no (selective colouring)
difficulty: very easy
steps: 4
comments: bright colouring tut. useful for dark or bland images. really only good for screencaps or photographs; i tried it with anime caps and it only succeeds in making them look flatter.
